This reinforces the hosts point that the young ladies may be taken a gander at as strolling blind. As she states, they might be taken a gander at as simply enhancements; much Like Jewelry. Females In music recordings are some of the time utilized Just as an item. They speak to a prize or something that can be acquired once you arrive at a specific degree of fame. As indicated by http://Neolithic. Silent. Mother/2012/10/21 the-portrayal of-ladies in-hip-bounce and-rap-recordings/, Women are frequently there as minor sexual items, moving provocatively in uncovering apparel, showing sexual Innuendos with their bodies developments, present in the clasps completely for the hetero male craftsmen and ewers fulfillment. With that being their essential, and practically just motivation behind being in the video, they are less out and out individuals, as much as they are viewed as articles to be utilized. They likewise are seen essentially as amusement, as indicated by Irvin. Additionally, they contend that occasionally the ladies CHOOSE to place themselves in this position. He says, Our Job is to engage You think 1 OFF ten man won Is a police officer or ten city worker, or ten covers educator People won have genuine lives and genuine Jobs, you think [they care] ? They Just need to be engaged. This shows he isn't taking a gander at the circumstance just as ladies are being typified or given a negative picture; He considers it to be carefully a business of amusement. The females in his psyche speak to something to take a gander at, and something that may perhaps light up a working keeps an eye on day. Irvin even ventures to state that he would permit his own little girl to be separated of one of his music recordings. This demonstrates how understood the brain of society has become, due to the normality of these pictures in the media. In any case, this Just adds to the acknowledgment cap Irvin doesn't see it in a negative manner, and may not see the negative picture that the video young ladies are given. The second to talk is model, Melissa Ford. The host asks Ford, Have you at any point felt affronted? Have you at any point felt externalized or awkward? How is that experience? Passage reacts by saying, as far as I can tell, I took a gander at it as a Job. This is a check. This is my venturing stone to get to another level This is additionally another way you can see this circumstance. Moving in music recordings might be the main choice a few females need to get a check. Lamentably, they are as yet given a negative picture and took a gander at in a terrible light. She mentions that while a few females do it for the business perspective, now and then being before the camera causes a young lady to feel great about themselves. Different occasions they basically pine for the consideration they get from being on the camera. This additionally opens the entryway for youthful, uncertain young ladies to turn into a piece of this world. A little youngster may be sitting in front of the TV and see a more seasoned ladies moving in a provocative manner, half bare, on a hip bounce music video. That little youngster may not consider the negative picture that model is giving herself, UT rather may see a lady who is OK with herself and is getting the consideration of many folks and significantly other ladies. Melissa advises that the opposition to be seen is increasingly extraordinary at this point. Where as there used to be five or six young ladies, presently theres fifty or sixty young ladies Youve got the chance to battle for the consideration. The host at that point poses the inquiry, How have you seen a change after some time Compare music recordings from the early asss to music recordings from 2007. The inquiry is focused at Kevin Powell, and he initially reacts with, muff know, from 85 to 90, 91, you didnt see that. You saw a couple of females however there was a parity that was going on. This shows after some time, there have been changes in the public eye that additionally change the picture that the young ladies in the hippo recordings are depicting. While previously, they may have been Just to adjust a sexual orientation proportion, presently they young ladies dwarf the folks. The young ladies are no longer taken a gander at in a similar honest manner; they have taken on progre ssively sexual jobs and are found in an entirely unexpected light. This is the reason the depiction of ladies in hip jump recordings has changed, and is presently negative. Powell at that point shares how he was really stunned, and thought about what sort of video is this? He hits on the point that I raised before by saying, young ladies really accept this is the thing that ladies hood is. The equalization change has left young ladies believing that a video young lady is everything they can be, and their solitary way to being acknowledged and effective. The young ladies dont see the negative part of the video young lady, just that they are getting consideration by the folks around them. In conclusion, the host inquires as to whether she accepted ladies were being externalized. Kenned rapidly replay, Tolerantly 1 00. I AAA nave an issue Walt ten observation Tanat Is going on with ladies in recordings today At the point when you see an excellent lady, and I regard her for being delightful, however my concern is shouldn't something be said about the young lady that doesnt realize that alright, Just being lovely isn't sufficient. Video young ladies are radiating the observation to little youngsters that hello, on the off chance that youre entirely, at that point this is the thing that you will get the chance to do. An ever increasing number of little youngsters are being sucked into this world, not understanding what theyre getting themselves into. Kenned takes advantage of the shallow part, all things considered, when she says, If that young lady increases twenty pounds shes out of a Job. So my issue is the reality of how these ladies are being depicted in these recordings. Little youngsters see provocative moving and dress in these music recordings and think it is alright, in light of the fact that its everything over TV and everywhere throughout the media. They feel as though this is the standard. Taking everything into account, while young ladies are Jumping at the opportunity to be in a hip bounce video as one of the numerous video young ladies, they have to initially think what they are depicting themselves as. Any young lady that is moving in the direction of being a piece of the music video world is in danger of having a terrible picture starting there on. They should take a gander at whether they are assuming a job in the belittlement of ladies, or on the off chance that they are basically playing out work.

Essay about matter of age in relationships

How Important is Age for Relationships? Many people feel uncomfortable when they see a couple where one partner is much older than the other one – irrespectively of who of them belongs to which gender. It just doesn’t occur for the majority that people belonging to different generations may have enough in common for creating a really serious relationship. The actual attitude towards this or that participant of such a relation differs with the person – some consider a younger one to be a fortune-hunter trying to win an older fool, or the older one is considered to be a â€Å"cradle-grabber† or something, appealed by the youth and beauty and trying to relive one’s own younger years. It isn’t usual for the onlookers to expand the realm of such relationship beyond sex and self-interest. Yet, how true it is? Why two people belonging to different ages should be stopped from being together if they feel that they can cope with it? There is, of course, the issue of responsibility – older people are usually more responsible and reasonable than younger ones, and may thus treat younger people as not mature enough. Good for them! The main thing about this problem, as it is with the majority of problems that interest people nowadays, is that nobody forces such a relationship on you. You are free to choose whatever you like. The Venture of Islam free essay sample

A discussion on Hodgsons definition and analysis of the Islamic religion in terms of history, culture and social aspects. This paper examines the meaning of the title of Marshall G.S. Hodgsons work, The Venture of Islam: Conscience and History in a World Civilization. The author provides Hodgsons definition of Islam and discusses the social and cultural background of the Islamic religion. Moreover, he explains the effect modern civilization had on Islamic religion. Hodgsons discussion of the Islamic reaction to Modernization, at the close of his magisterial study, leaves the reader with a sense of depression at just how impossible it is to reconcile nationalist ideals and Western-derived thinking to the core venture of Islam. Although Muslims were able to create a cohesive and flourishing civilization in the pre-modern world, Islamdom was unprepared for the dynamism of Western expansion, based as it is on capitalist investment and mechanization. Yet, even in the West . . . the socially concerned are full of complaints about the fragmentation of life . . . and about personal loss of roots and alienation in the mass. [However], in Islamdom, the disruption of traditions is even more problematic (III,419). Hodgsons conclusions about Islam in modernity are melancholy ones, giving us the impression that the creative vision and faith at the core of Islamic belief are unsuited to the dry, pragmatic realities of contemporary life.

Personal Narrative The Big Game Essay Example

Personal Narrative The Big Game Essay After working hard all basketball season, my team and I had our biggest game coming up to get prepared for, and that was the semi- finals of the district tournament. The team we was going to face was a very worthy competition. This team had a record of 26-5 and they were the 16th ranked team in the state. This was the game that was going to decide if it would be my last high school basketball game or not. I would’ve been discouraged if it was going to be my last game, because I loved this game and I have played it my whole life. Basketball has always helped me relieve stress I knew this was something I could play to get my mind off of things. I have been playing basketball for 14 years and I have been to a lot of camps just to prepare myself for games just like this. I knew my leadership as the team captain and point guard is important to not only myself but the team. I had to sacrifice for my teammates to do what it takes to win. Being a good leader becomes a big responsibility and I knew that I was capable of being a really good leader. I did everything I could for my teammates because I knew how much each and everybody loved this game. I was chosen to be a leader because I knew my team believed I could help achieve both my team’s goals and my own. The game was about to tip- off and Betsy Layne ended up getting the tip. Governmental Control of Overpopulation essays

Governmental Control of Overpopulation essays Nowadays, the world's population is about 6 billion and is increasing rapidly. Soon, there will not be enough resources for the residences. As a result, overpopulated countries such as China have implemented some policies against overpopulation. One of the most violent rules is to force people to limit their number of children. In my opinion, using power to limit the number of children a family can have is not a good solution for controlling overpopulation. The first and most important reason is that limiting people to have a specified number of children has many problems. One of the most important problems is female infanticide which is against human rights. In fact, many people prefer male children over females because of cultural traditions which regard males stronger and better able to help and support parents. Recently, modern technology, such as ultrasound, helps people to know the sex of the baby before birth and abortion may occur if it is a girl. As a result, this policy drives many families to kill or abandon their baby girls. Another important problem with this policy is that boys will outnumber girls very soon. For example, statistics show that the sex ratio in China, with one child policy, is 117 boys to 100 girls; however, the international sex ratio is 106 boys to 100 girls which is very different. Consequently, it is estimated that by 2020 about 33 million men will be unable to find a wife which leads to a variety of s ocial problems. (Grant, 1998) Another reason is that there are various methods that can be used to control overpopulation which is better options and governments can use them instead of using power. One of the most effective methods is to educate people. Research shows that rural families, which have a lower level of education, are more populated than families in big cities. Stratigic Plan for Public Health Organization Coursework

Stratigic Plan for Public Health Organization - Coursework Example STRATEGIC PLAN FOR LAKE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT Our Vision: Our vision is to promote and protect the health of Waukegan Illinois through assessment, policy development, and assurance. Our Mission statement: The mission of the Lake County Health Department is to promote and protect the health of Illinois residents through networking and collaborative actions that raise public awareness, build a constituency, and influences legislation and policies concerning public health issues affecting northern Illinois.   Our Values: We believe that services must be available without barriers. No resident should be turned away due to an inability to pay. We also believe in providing services in an environment of mutual respect, free of discrimination or any bias (Lakecountyil.gov, 2013). Our core competencies a) This department came into existence in 1956, established by referendum. Back then, it had a small bunch of people. However, today it boasts of over one-thousand professional assisting i n all aspects of health, with an approximate working budget of seventy-million US dollars. b) Of all the human service providers under the Lake County, we are the biggest, with a twelve member Health Board governing this department. c) Nationwide, we rank among the top six of all two-thousand, eight hundred and sixty four health departments at the local level. d) We are members under the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium, an organization that serves the Chicago city and the Winnebago, Mchenry, Kendall, Lake, Kane, Cook, Dupage, and Will counties in terms of complex health matters. The Environmental Scan. An environmental scan is the systematic way of finding out and interpreting the external environment to know the trends and factors of change, and their likely impacts on an organization in the future. Economic aspects Increase or entry of new security risks will affect the ability to respond to emergencies. This will affect this department in that we may not respond to eme rgencies resulting from crime and health risks as we lack the training of responding to security risks. Global economic transformation on Health care due to advance in competition may find workers not adequately prepared for new work processes. Impacts of globalization of Health care owing to economic integration and liberalization of trade globally will mean that workers have to deal with more potentially dangerous diseases. Social/ demographic aspects High risk groups such as foreign workers, older and new workers will affect the workplace. This is because language and cultural barriers, lack of training as well as the work organization mean a possibility in increase of injuries or work blunders. The raising of the educational and general worker bar in qualifying as a health worker means injury rates will reduce because of better training and more workers that are competent. Aging of the American population will affect the workforce in that chronic injuries and illnesses may incre ase. In addition, older workers take longer to recover from such. Legal/ policy aspects Increase in the enforcement of health and safety regulations by the government means pushing towards greater compliance that will help in better competence and more output. Smoking ban in workplaces and public spaces means workers will no longer get exposure to

Consumer Coffee Consumption Preference in the Netherlands Research Proposal

Consumer Coffee Consumption Preference in the Netherlands - Research Proposal Example On average, the Dutch consume 3.2 cups of coffee per person everyday according to 2006 statistics making them the second largest coffee consumers after Scandinavians, and although the average is 13 percent lower compared to a decade earlier in 1996, the approximate coffee consumption is significantly high compared to other countries (de Bontridder). Coffee is substantially popular beverage in Netherlands, making a study into factors influencing the popularity, consumption, and preferences important especially for marketing groups wishing to segment the market. Compared to other countries, the Netherlands coffee consumption average is second to Scandinavian countries drinking approximately 4.3 cups of coffee per day between 2002 and 2006, with Finland topping the coffee consumption list at 5.4 cups a day (de Bontridder). In the same period, 2002-2006, eastern and southern Europe registered the least coffee consumption, with southern Europeans drinking approximately 1.9 cups per day a factor associated to higher tea consumption and preference. Various reasons exist, influencing people towards coffee consumption in the western countries, with the two primary factors according to Gelder, Buijsse, Tijhuis, et al being the psychoactive stimulation affect of caffeine content in the coffee and improvement of cognitive performance (Gelder et al 226). Most people in the western countries begin their day with a fresh cup of coffee, essentially to be fully awake for the rest of the day, and be able to maintain coherence in thought because coffee stimulates their brains. Notably, the association of coffee and better cognitive functioning is attributed to the caffeine factor, which enters the blood stream and acts as a stimulant causing alertness in body and mind. In a study conducted over a ten-year period assessing whether coffee consumption influences the cognitive decline in elderly men, the researchers identified variables that influence coffee consumption, which included education, height and weight, gender, physical activities, age, and lifestyle with participants from Finland, Italy, and the Netherlands. Considering age as the relevant variable in this discussion, the findings showed that age was inversely associated with the amount of coffee consumed (Gelder et al 228). The highest consumption was more than 4 cups per day, associated with people aged 74.8 years with a deviation of 0.4, which was the youngest group among the elderly participants, while the least consumers were aged 77 years (Gelder et al 230). In the same study, the Dutch came up as the highest consumers, whereby out of the 336 Dutch participants, 202 drank more than three cups per day compared to 77 of the Fin participants. Another study that shows agreement with the study by Gelder and colleagues is by Luciano, Kirk, and Heath et al, investigating the genetic and environmental influences on tea consumption and finding a common relation with those of coffee consumption. The study participants were 1796 Australian identical twins and 2013 non-identical twins aged 16 to 87 years. The study tested the number of cups of coffee and tea the participants took in a day, and the results showed a negative association of age with coffee preferences but a

Questions to Ask Before You Believe a Pol Essay Example for Free

Questions to Ask Before You Believe a Pol Essay Opinion polls and other sample surveys can produce accurate and useful information if the pollster uses good statistical techniques and also works hard at preparing a sampling frame, wording questions, and reducing nonresponse. Many surveys, however, especially those designed to influence public opinion rather than just record it, do not produce accurate or useful information. Here are some questions to ask before you pay much attention to poll results. †¢Who carried out the survey? Even a political party should hire a professional sample survey firm whose reputation demands that they follow good survey practices. †¢What was the population? That is, whose opinions were being sought? †¢How was the sample selected? Look for mention of random sampling. †¢How large was the sample? Even better, find out both the sample size and the margin of error within which the results of 95% of all samples drawn as this one was would fall. †¢What was the response rate? That is, what percent of the original subjects actually provided information? †¢How were the subjects contacted? By telephone? Mail? Face-to-face interview? †¢When was the survey conducted? Was it just after some event that might have influenced opinion? †¢What were the exact questions asked? Academic survey centers and government statistical offices answer these questions when they announce the results of a sample survey. National opinion polls usually don’t announce their response rate (which is often low) but do give us the other information. Editors and newscasters have the bad habit of cutting out these dull facts and reporting only the sample results. Many sample surveys by interest groups and local newspapers and TV stations don’t answer these questions because their polling methods are in fact unreliable. If a politician, an advertiser, or your local TV station announces the results of a poll without complete information, be skeptical. Even professional sample surveys don’t give exactly correct information about the population. There are many potential sources of error in sampling. The margin of error announced by a sample survey covers only random sampling error, the variation due to chance in choosing a random sample. Other types of error are in addition to the margin of error and can’t be directly measured. Sampling errors come from the act of choosing a sample. Random sampling error and undercoverage are common types of sampling error. Undercoverage occurs when some members of the population are left out of the sampling frame, the list from which the sample is actually chosen. The most serious errors in most careful surveys, however, are non-sampling errors. These have nothing to do with choosing a sample—they are present even in a census. The single biggest problem for sample surveys is nonresponse: subjects can’t be contacted or refuse to answer. Mistakes in handling the data (processing errors) and incorrect answers by respondents (response errors) are other examples of non-sampling errors.

Ernest Hemingway After Fitzgerald :: Biography Biographies Essays

Hemingway After Fitzgerald Hemingway after Fitzgerald continued to be the man everyone expected him to be, superficially at least. He was famous, adventurous, had affairs with women, and continued to dominate the literary world. In the end, however, these very characteristics brought him into a state of depression that would ultimately defeat him. In the words of Kelly Dupuis, "[Hemingway's] final years were haunted by some of the same ghosts that haunted Fitzgerald: alcoholism, mental illness (in this case his own) and a creeping sense of diminished self-worth"1 Hemingway did not attend Fitzgerald's funeral after his death on December 21, 1940. It is not known when or how he had received word while in Cuba and Hemingway made no public statement regarding Fitzgerald's death.2 After The Last Tycoon was released to warm receptions that deemed Fitzgerald as capable of more "mature" work, Hemingway remained unmoved with the stories, saying "Scott died inside himself at around the age of thirty to thirty-five and his creative powers died somewhat later...the book has that deadness...as though it were a slab of bacon on which mold had grown" (Bruccoli, Dangerous 210). At this point in his life Hemingway had moved to a house outside Havana, Cuba with his wife Martha. While his public image continued to expand (seemingly at the expense of his work), he continued working on several writing projects that would later become Islands In The Stream and The Garden Of Eden. In 1942 (in one of the most bizarre stories I could imagine) Hemingway began an undercover operation with some friends and professional operatives to hunt down German submarines in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Cuba. He used his own boat, Pilar, and attached radio equipment and extra fuel tanks, hoping that, in the offchance he found a German sub, he could "drop a bomb down the hatch". They called themselves the "Crook Factory." Nothing ever came of their sub hunts except a good time fishing and drinking together, in the process irritating Martha who thought Hemingway was avoiding the responsibilities as a great writer to report the real war then raging in Europe".3 From May of 1 944 to March 1945 Hemingway served in London and France as Collier's correspondent. There he met his fourth wife, Mary Welsh, who he married in 1946. Throughout the 1950's Hemingway's reputation grew as a celebrity as his public image dominated the literary world with every new book he wrote.
